Gold Coast not-for-profit groups have until mid-October to apply for up to $5000 in funding under the Volunteer Grants Programme.

Moncrieff MP Steven Ciobo said the grants recognise the valuable work and commitment of the Coast’s volunteers.

“In previous years, organisations such as the Beechmont Rural Fire Brigade, Broadbeach/Robina Cricket Club, the Broadwater Dragons Paddling Club and Ashmore Primary School P&C have used the grants to buy sporting goods, safety equipment and air conditioners,” Mr Ciobo said.

“Every day volunteers give up their time and energy to help people in need.

“The Volunteer Grants Programme supports the important contribution volunteers make to the Gold Coast community.

“In government, the Coalition delivered more than $62 million to more than 29,000 community organisations since 2001.”

Mr Ciobo encourages local not-for-profit groups to apply for funding of between $1000 and $5000 to buy equipment.

As part of the $21 million Volunteer Grants Programme, eligible not-for-profit organisations can also apply for up to $2500 to contribute towards volunteers’ petrol costs.

Applications close on October 17.
