I welcome the news that Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld is re-opening today.
This is a positive step forward as the city, state and country continues to heal from the horrific incident that claimed four lives and shut the park in October.
My deepest sympathies continue to go to those affected by this tragedy.
This heartbreaking event has touched many lives and demonstrated how the community can rally together to support those in need.
This respectful reopening will also end the uncertainty for those employees and their families for whom Dreamworld is their income.
The Gold Coast has long been a destination for families and fun, and I hope it continues to be.
I encourage Australians to continue to visit the Gold Coast and the city’s theme parks.
Gold Coast theme parks are an enduring and essential part of Queensland’s $23 billion tourism industry.
