The benefits of a stronger economy are flowing to the Gold Coast with the unemployment rate falling from 5.7 per cent in September 2013 to 4.3 per cent in September 2018.
Local MP Steven Ciobo welcomed the news.
“While Gold Coasters work hard to provide for their families, the Liberal National Government is getting on with the job of helping to deliver a stronger economy,” Mr Ciobo said.
“More Gold Coasters are now in work than ever before and I’m very pleased we are seeing the benefits flowing in our city with more local jobs.”
More than 1.2 million jobs have been created since the Liberal National Government came to office in 2013.
“The Liberal National Government is determined to continue to put in place the right conditions to ensure we have a strong economy and more jobs,” Mr Ciobo said.
“By contrast, Bill Shorten and Labor would risk it all with their $200 billion worth of taxes on electricity, workers, housing, savings, investments and retirement which will hurt our city’s economy,” he said.
“The Australian economy has gained momentum, but we must be wary of global head winds and risks posed by taking a different approach.”
