Since I was first elected, I’ve worked hard for the people of Moncrieff and stood up for the Coast.
I’ve lived on the Gold Coast for more than 20 years so I know the important issues facing our city.
That’s why I’ve worked to bolster law enforcement, deliver safer roads, improve local health facilities and secure hundreds of millions of dollars of funding for local infrastructure like the M1, crime prevention and child care facilities.
I grew up in a country town in north Queensland where my family had a small business dependent on the tourism industry.
It was here I learnt the link between hard work and reward, the importance of a strong family and the value of giving back to the community.
It was a start to life that will always shape my views and values.
This background, and the fact my wife Astra started a small business on the Gold Coast, means I am well placed to represent our city – which is known as the tourism and small business capital of Australia.
I went to university on the Coast where I earned degrees in law and commerce, before completing my masters of law in Brisbane.
Before entering Parliament I built a professional career at international firms Coopers & Lybrand and, later, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
I am now dedicated to serving our community.
